The shunkōden building was constructed in 1915 for the Taisho Emperor's sokuirei ceremony on the site where the Imperial Sanctuary was formerly located. One of the imperial household's three sacred treasures was relocated to this building from the Tokyo Imperial Palace, and a ritual was held to announce to the Imperial Sanctuary that the sokuirei ceremony would be performed.」
