2015文化財ウィーク『江戸城から明治宮殿へ』図録p.16「治15年（1882）7月、榎本武揚がジョサイア・コンドルに委嘱していた山里の洋風謁見所（正殿）の設計案が完成します。国家の威信を表現するネオ・バロック様式の2階建て煉瓦建築で、赤坂仮皇居の謁見所の旧材を活用しつつ建てられる予定でした。図面はその一階部分で、右下のサイン「Josiah Conder M.R.I.B.A. Architect」はコンドルの自筆とされています。しかし、同年8月に榎本が清国全権公使として転出すると、翌年4月には急に計画が変更され、洋風謁見所の建築は中止となりました。（Floor Plan of the State Room in the Meiji Palace）This is a design for the State Room by Josiah Conder, commissioned by Enomoto Takeaki. It is a two-story brick building in the Neo-Baroque style. Enomoto was appointed Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Qing China in the same year, however, and in the year after he departed Tokyo, plans for the State Room were suddenly altered. The building that Conder had designed was never constructed.」
