2015文化財ウィーク『江戸城から明治宮殿へ』図録p.20「この図のとおり、表宮殿と奥宮殿は、御学問所の２階から聖上常御殿へと続く長い廊下で繋がれていました。奥宮殿には、天皇・皇后などの生活空間である常御殿や、女官の詰所等がありました。和洋折衷の表宮殿に対し、書院造を取り入れた和風建築でしたが、内部には洋風の家具や暖炉、絨毯、シャンデリアなどが導入されていました。（An Elevation of the Imperial Study and Emperor's Living Quarters (South Side)）As this plan shows, the Front Palace and Inner Palace were linked by a long corridor running from the second floor of the Imperial Study to the Emperor's residence. The Inner Palace, which housed the living quarters of the Emperor and Empress, was constructed in Japanese style, but also contained Western furnishings such as fireplaces, carpets, and chandeliers.」
