2015文化財ウィーク『江戸城から明治宮殿へ』図録p.16「明治16年（1883）7月になり、ついに最終的な造営方針が定められました。旧西丸跡・山里地区（旧西丸御殿の奥庭）に木造仮皇居、吹上に木造の賢所等を建設し、明治21年6月までに総落成という計画で、洋風石造の建築物は宮内省庁舎だけとなりました。このスケッチは、新たな造営方針による宮殿の表部分を描いています。正確な年代は不明ですが、同様のスケッチの1枚に「明治十六年十二月中（中略）目論見(もくろみ)ノ為メ製シタル画ナリ」とあることから、この頃のものと推測されます。（Bird's Eye View of the Front Section of the Meiji Palace）In 1883, the policy for construction of the new palace was finalized at last. A wooden Temporary Palace in the Japanese style would be built on the site of the former Nishinomaru Castle compound and garden, and the Imperial Sanctuary would be constructed at Fukiage. The only Western-style stone building was the office of the Imperial Household Ministry. This sketch shows the front part of the Palace, which was built in line with this new construction policy.」
