2023文化財ウィーク展示資料解説p.12(35)「天保14年(1843)の12代将軍家慶の日光社参の際、利根川の房川(ぼうせん)の渡しに臨時に架設された船橋の図です。江戸時代の利根川には橋が架けられておらず、船で利根川を往来していましたが、将軍の日光社参の際には臨時に船橋が架けられました。初期の船橋は、簡単な構造でしたが、次第に大掛かりなものとなっていきました。この時は、船51艘のほか、600の碇(いかり)や石を詰めた俵等が使われた、と記されている記録もあります。一般人の通行は許されず、社参後はすぐに撤去されました。(Boat Bridge at Bōsen for the Shōgun's Visit to Nikkō, April 1843)This illustration depicts the temporary bridge formed by a line of boats across the Tonegawa River at Bōsen for the visit to Nikkō by the twelfth Shōgun, Ieyoshi in 1843. The bridge initially used for such visits was a simple structure, but it gradually became more elaborate as time went on. 」
