文化財ウィーク2010『黒船が来た！』図録解説p.1「宣教師マテオ・リッチが中国で刊行した『坤輿万国全図』を原図とした図。長久保赤水は江戸時代中期の地理学者。最新の調査結果である千島列島なども書き加えられているが、「夜人国」など架空の国名も見える。作者の名声によって幕末まで板を重ねたほか、多くの類図も刊行された。（Annotated Map of the Myriad Countries and Regions of the World）This map is based on the Map of the Myriad Countries of the World created by the missionary Matteo Ricci in China. It was produced by Nagakubo Sekisui, a geographer of the middle Edo period. The map includes additions of features discovered in recent surveys, such as the Chishima Islands, but it also contains some fictitious country names. Owing to the reputation of its author, the map was reprinted many times up to the end of the Edo period, and inspired the creation of many similar maps. 」
