2018文化財ウィーク展示資料解説p.10(46)，大規模企画展2012(4) 「アメリカは来航して日本に開国を迫った際、お土産（みやげ）として将軍や幕閣に銃や香水、酒、本など様々なものを贈りました。その中には小型の蒸気車模型と電信機もあり、アメリカ人たちは日本人の前で実際に動かして見せました。蒸気車は日本人に、よほど驚きをもって迎えられたらしく、瓦版（かわらばん）や写生図など、多くの絵が残っています。（Illustration of a Steam Engine 1/10 Scale）When Americans came to Japan to demand that it open itself to the world, they brought gifts of guns, perfume, liquor, books, etc., to the shōgun and his cabinet officials. The gifts also included a small model steam engine and a telegraphic machine.
