特別コレクション39-6「芝居は近世を通じて人気の娯楽であったため、双六の題材にも多くとりあげられ、様々な種類が残っている。この双六は、曽我狂言に登場する人物を各々役者の似顔で描き、傍らに役名と役者名を記している。ふり出しは、芝居茶屋の女が毛氈と煙草盆を持ち、客を案内する姿。茶屋を経由するのは上級の客で、ここに描かれているのは、大店の母娘であろうか。奉公人を連れての芝居見物である。落款が記されていないものの、役者似顔は明らかに歌川系で比較的わかりやすい。役者名と似顔から役者の代数を特定し、その名前を使用していた時期などから絞り込み、この双六の成立年を推定してみると、このメンバーが全員江戸に揃うのは文化12年以外にはない。曽我狂言は毎年初春上演が恒例であること、双六も草双紙同様、正月に新版を売出すケースが多いことを考え合わせると、文化13年初春新版と考えてよいだろう。全員が同座（同じ劇場に出演）してはいないので、紙上での夢の競演である。(Sugoroku (type of board game) of a kabuki actor)Because kabuki was a popular form of entertainment throughout modern times, sugoroku was often based on kabuki themes, and there are numerous varieties that have been passed down to this day.This sugoroku depicts caricatures of the actors who play various characters in the Soga Kyōgen series of kabuki, with the names of the actors and the characters they play written beside the pictures. At the start of the game is a picture of a woman holding a rug and tobacco tray, showing customers to their table at a teahouse near a kabuki hut. Upper-class people visited teahouses before going to see kabuki, and perhaps the women depicted in this picture are a mother and her daughter who ran a top-class teahouse. The customer is going to see a kabuki play with house servants.Although there is no signature or seal, it is relatively easy to see that the caricatures of the actors are in the style of the Utagawa school. The names of the actors, the caricatures, and the period during which the names were used were used to identify the year in which this sugoroku was published. As a result, it was ascertained that it was only in 1815 that all of these members gathered in Edo. It was customary for Soga Kyōgen to be performed in the New Year, and like the kusazōshi (a genre of woodblock printed illustrated literature), sugoroku also often went on sale in the New Year. So this sugoroku is believed to have been published in the New Year of 1816. Not all the actors performed at the same theater, so it was only on paper that they all came together at once.」
