(Sugoroku (type of board game) depicting nothing but Japanese apricots)A form of literary art which thrived in modern times was the haikai (seventeen-syllable verse). People with an interest in haikai enjoyed spring by coming together in the New Year, and compiling their works into a booklet or onto a single sheet of paper, which they printed and gave away to their friends and acquaintances. This is a sugoroku of a group of people centered on Hidekuni, known as Edoza, with an interest in haikai, enjoying spring in 1766. The Japanese apricot was apparently the subject of their haikai at the time, and the sugoroku has 29 squares with all kinds of illustrations of Japanese apricot, with the start being "Kōbunboku," which is another name for Japanese apricot. If you look closely, you can see the edge of the red woodblock, although it is faded. The name of the publisher can also be seen, so perhaps it was sold, too.」
