2023文化財ウィーク展示資料解説p.7(23)「嘉祥は嘉定とも書き、疫病を祓うため6月16日に行われた行事です。江戸幕府では、家康の三方(みかた)が原での戦いの吉瑞などの初代将軍家康に関する故事と結びつき重要な行事となりました。江戸城大広間の二之間、三之間に菓子が並べられ、将軍より諸大名、旗本たちに下賜されました。大奥では、御台所が手ずから御目見え以上の者へ捻(ひね)り餅(もち)を下賜しました。(The Kashō Ceremony of June 16 (Chiyoda-no-On'omote Series))Kashō was a ceremony held on June 16 to ward off plagues. Under the Edo shogunate it became an important event, linked to historical events involving the first Shōgun, Ieyasu. In the Ō-hiroma Grand Hall of Edo Castle, the Shōgun distributed gifts of sweets to the daimyō lords and direct retainers. While the Shōgun's wife did the same for high-ranking maids in the Inner Palaces of the castle.」，2016文化財ウィーク『いざ江戸城へ！』図録p.25，2014文化財ウィークリーフレットp.3「「嘉祥(かしょう)」（嘉定(かじょう)とも書く）の祝いは、毎年6月16日に、将軍が諸大名や旗本に菓子を配った幕府の年中行事です。大広間の二之間、三之間に8種類の菓子が、1,612の膳(ぜん)に載せてられ並べられました。将軍は中段に着座し、四位以上の者には順に御目見(おめみえ)をして菓子を与え、四位以下の者には一同と御目見をし、退出しました。四位以下の者はその後に菓子を拝領します。絵は、菓子の膳を用意しているところです。（Kajō on June 16（from the Chiyoda no On-omote series））The Kajō ceremony, observed by the Shogunate on June 16 each year, involved the Shogun distributing sweets to Daimyō and direct retainers. For this ceremony the Ō-hiroma grand hall was laid with 1,612 individual platters, each with eight different varieties of sweets.」
