2021文化財ウィーク電子展示資料解説p.6(15) 「上野戦争に先立つこと約1か月半、慶応4年(1868)4月19日、自軍の寛永寺への転陣を求める新政府・北陸道先鋒軍が、同寺へ行軍する様を描いたとされています。この転陣計画は、同寺に籠る彰義隊の動静を警戒してのものであり、錦旗らしき旗を押し立て、小銃隊・大砲を引き連れての寺側との交渉は、彰義隊に対する示威行動でもありました。この日、交渉は決裂したものの衝突は免れ、決着は持ち越されることとなりました。(Famous Places: Ueno)This illustration is said to depict the army of the new Meiji government marching toward Kan'ei'ji Temple on April 19, 1868, around six weeks before the Battle of Ueno. The plan to redirect the army to Kan'ei-ji Temple was prompted by concerns over the movements of the anti-restoration Shōgitai forces barricaded in the Temple. The government army displayed a flag identical to the imperial ensign and brought rifle troops and cannons to the negotiations, sending a clear message of warning to the Shōgitai.」，2018文化財ウィーク(68)「上野（寛永寺）を描いた錦絵です。官軍が先頭に錦の御旗(みはた)をかかげ、御橋(みはし)（三橋）を渡って袴腰(はかまごし)へ進むさまが描かれています。御橋を渡ると広小路つづきの広場で、広場の形から一般にここを袴腰と呼びました。その末に境内を区切る黒門がありますが、黒門は、鉄鋲打(てつびょううち)の頑丈な冠木門(かぶきもん)で左右はどこにでもある黒の木柵(もくさく)となっています。彰義隊(しょうぎたい)の戦では、ここが主戦場となりました。（Illustration of Ueno, Renowned as a Famous Place）This is a nishikie (color-printed ukiyoe woodblock print) depicting Ueno (Kan'eiji Temple). It shows a raised Imperial standard leading the government forces as they cross Mihashi (Three Bridges) and march toward open space.」
