2019文化財ウィーク展示資料解説p.15(35)「坂の西側（画面右側）に紀州藩中屋敷（現赤坂御用地一帯）があったところから紀伊国坂と呼ばれた辺りが描かれています。東側の土手沿いには弁慶堀が見えます。小林清親が文明開化期の東京を描いた「東京名所図」シリーズのうちの1枚です。清親の風景画は、自身が”光線画”と称した光と影との一種の印象主義で、明治の木版画界に新鮮な画風を提供しました。落ち着いた色調の中、坂道を登ってくる人々の影が長く伸びる様が独特な情趣を醸し出しています。（Akasaka Kinokuni-zaka ）This illustration shows the Kinokunizaka hill area, so named because the secondary residence of the Kishu (Kinokuni) clan in Edo was located here (the area is now home to the Akasaka Imperial Property). The Benkei Channel is visible along the embankment to the east. This illustration is taken from the Tōkyō Meishozu (famous spots in Tokyo), a series of illustrations of Tokyo around the time of the "civilization and enlightenment" period in the late 1800s, by artist Kobayashi Kiyochika.」
