(Overall Floor Plan of the Ōoku Area of the Edo Castle Nishinomaru Palace)This is the floor plan of the Ōoku area of the Karigoten (temporary palace) of Edo Castle Nishinomaru in 1860. The yellow part is the Gotenmuki, which were the rooms for the shogun's lawful wife. The reddish purple part is the Nagatsubone, which were the living quarters for the housemaids of the palace. Nagatsubone was gradually expanded from 1830 to around 1850 to cover the eastern side of the castle, but it was scaled down in the 1860s, and the central area in the diagram was changed to Ohiroshiki, which was a room where male officials worked. Compared to 1650, there were now two Osuzurōka corridors. The Goshinzashiki was built next to this corridor, and the large room is marked as a "meeting room." There are no buildings in the garden for sheltering from earthquakes, nor is there a tea house.」
