(Floor plan of the living room and entrance for exclusive use by the shogun of Edo Castle Honmaru)This was the shogun's room for sleeping, eating and resting, and it was a completely private room. At the start, the Gozanoma was the only room used exclusively by the shogun, but after the sword fight incident in 1684, this room was built so that it was separated from Gozanoma to protect the shogun in an emergency. Only authorized people were allowed to enter this room.」,2011文化財ウィーク(28)「甲良家伝来の本図では、右下に「楓之間(かえでのま)」、その向かいに「御用所(ごようしょ)」が記されています(展示資料27の図では「御用之間」となっています)。 This diagram passed down through generations of the Kōra family shows Kaedenoma on the bottom right, with Goyōsho on the opposite side. This was a small room of around 7.5 square meters, and it was a place where the shogun avoided everyone to concentrate on official business by himself. The room had a black chest of drawers where the shogun kept documents he had written himself and written complaints gathered from the suggestions box, and only the most trusted people were allowed to enter.」
