Ohikaezashiki was an anteroom in Nakaoku for Gosankyō, the three branches of the Tokugawa clan. The clock room was also a room between the Omote and Nakaoku areas, and it was always manned by full-time officials who guarded the building. Officials of the Omote area were not allowed to enter Nakaoku from here.」
