『双六』図録解説p.4「道中双六には東海道ばかりでなく、おそらくその変形として、こうした観光地への道中も題材とされた。これは日本橋を振り出し、鎌倉、江ノ島、大山を巡り、長津田や三軒茶屋を通って再び日本橋へ戻る珍しい形の双六である。実際の遊山では、当時の江戸の人々にかなり馴染深い経路であったと思われる。西村屋刊の合巻、種彦著『正本製』12篇上冊の巻末、文政14年(＝天保2年)の新板目録にこの双六の広告が掲載されており、文政13年のものにはない。従って天保2年に出されたものであろう。その宣伝文に｢為一翁かの地に往来のとき真景を写し(中略)童子のもてあそびのみにあらずこれをひらきて見給へばその地に遊ぶここちして云々｣とあるように実に細かく書き込まれている。なお現今では北斎の代表作として著名な｢富嶽三十六景｣も12篇下冊の広告中にあるが、この双六にも似た筆致が感じられる。 柳亭種彦撰 葛飾北斎画 西村屋与八･鶴屋喜右衛門版(Sugoroku (type of board game) of a trip to Mt. Ōyama and Enoshima Island in Kamakura and back)Sugoroku depicting sights along the way to destinations were not all based on the theme of the Tōkaidō Highway. Roads leading to sightseeing spots were also depicted as in this sugoroku.This sugoroku begins from Nihonbashi, and passes through Kamakura, Enoshima Island, Mt.Ōyama, Nagatsuda and Sangenjaya, before returning to Nihonbashi. For people enjoying holidays in the Edo Period, it is believed to have been a very familiar route at the time.An advertisement of this sugoroku can be found in the 1831 catalog at the end of the first volume of Section 12 in the collection of works by Tanehiko Ryūtei, A Book Written Like a Script, published by Nishimuraya. However, it does not appear in the book published in 1830. This indicates that the sugoroku was probably published in 1831. The pictures have been drawn extremely meticulously as indicated by the tagline in the advertisement, "Katsushika Hokusai actually visited the locations to draw these pictures (abridged).
